Responsive Reading

Struggling Readers

Responsive Reading has limited evidence of effectiveness for struggling readers. The one qualifying study included in this review showed an effect size of +0.31.

About Responsive Reading

Responsive Reading is a program in which teachers alternate among children to provide intensive scaffolding at each child’s level. A daily lesson cycle consists of fluency building, assessment, letters and words, supported reading, and supported writing.
